Japanese bondage is distinguished by its use of specific katas (forms) and aesthetic rules. Sometimes, asymmetric and often intentionally uncomfortable positions, often giving choice of two ‘evils’ (two in different ways uncomfortable positions to chose between by moving in the ropes), are employed to heighten the psychological impact of the bondage.

Thank you for the post and the nice note! Just for info, in the images above, only the ones take by Mali Lazell display real Shibari. Adrian Wilson’s images only quote bondage, for its sensual qualities, with no pretention to stick to traditional Shibari codes.
Kindest regards.

First of all, Tthank you very much for the post and the nice comment! I just with to add that only Mali’s images display real Shibari. Adrian’s photos quote only it for its sensual qualities without sticking to the codes of traditional SHibari.
I knew that. But thank you for making it clear since I only put the pictures together for aesthetical reasons. For me it looked like as if the women in adrian’s pictures WAS tied before, maybe in traditional Shibari, maybe not… I wanted to create that idea, by putting the pictures togehter…
Interesting approach. There’s much more left to the imagination than actually shown. But the “atmosphere” is definitely there. And I like the air.
